Learning how to prospect is what actually makes you the money in any business. Marketing
and personal branding is what will get your foot into the door with a potential prospect, but it
won't guarantee that you make any money. The money is made over the phone.
Here are 7 Steps to Become a Master Prospector:
(The Following Steps are for Practice:)
1. Learn it and then Lose it:
If you are in a home based business, Your company should provide you with a script. Learn it
and then lose it.
2. Practice in front of a Mirror:
After you get used to the company script, practice in front of a mirror until you feel confident
enough.
3. Record yourself:
Pretend you are calling a prospect and record your conversation. Play it back each time and
listen carefully to how you sound. Try to pinpoint any weak areas of your conversation.
Keep repeating this process until you feel confident enough to practice with a live person.
4. Practice Live:
Find a friend or the sponsor that brought you into the business. Pretend that they are your
prospect and let them give you any feed back as to how you are coming across on the phone.
Keep repeating this step with more than one person if possible. Keep doing this until they give
you the thumbs up.

5. Forget Money:
Have you ever wondered why the top earners keep making the big money? It's because of this
step.
Take money right out of the equation. Focus on finding out if you can actually solve people's
problems with your solutions (home business).
6. Qualify Your Prospect:
During the first 5 minutes of your conversation, qualify your prospect for your time. Ask them 3
to 5 qualifying questions to determine if what your business has to offer is a match to what they
are looking for.
Here are some examples of qualifying questions:
- Why are they considering a home business vs another job?
- If money is their reason behind their desire, find out what exactly will this money do for
them?
- How soon do they want to find a work at home business?
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are they?
- How much money do they want to make? ETC.
If they are serious, then take them to the next step in your business plan. If they are not, take
the opportunity away from them.
7. Don't be Desperate:
Have patience and do not be desperate for a sale. Being desperate will push your prospect
away from you. Be confident and focus on helping others.
If you take the focus off of you and place it on them, they will feel that and more people will join
you.
Mastering the art of prospecting is one of the greatest skills that you can learn in the home
based business industry. Be patient with yourself and have a long term plan for your business.
Having a long term plan with your business tells your subconscious mind that you are playing to
win.
